The variety of weather in each season at Lake Tahoe is one of the things I love most about calling Tahoe City home for over 30 years. From Indian summers that often stretch into mid-October, to the occasional surf days of late fall when south winds push waves from the south shore all the way to the north — I've been quoted talking about those surf days in Mashable and the Sacramento Bee. Then there are the epic winters. 1996 and 2023 are the ones people still talk about. Snow so deep that street names had to be spray-painted on corners. Houses buried under 20 feet. The energy of a big winter in a ski town is something you have to experience to understand — it's part of why Tahoe Donner has become one of the most sought-after mountain communities in California.
From the early days of agents being able to put MLS data on their own websites, I worked with a developer from Argentina to build one of the first custom Drupal real estate sites in this market — around 2007 and 2008, when most agents were still on generic templates. That evolved into Python and Django, and now into an AI-assisted system that tracks 20 years of sold data across every neighborhood in the basin. Over 14,000 transactions. When you search a property on this site, you're seeing data most agents in this market have never analyzed.
